Officials continue to search for woman who left Iowa City mental health facility

IOWA CITY — Update 9:30 p.m.: Missing woman who left Iowa City mental health facility located by authorities
Update Monday, 5:09 p.m.: Investigators stay they are still searching for Vanessa Jones 24-hours after the initial announcement of her disappearance.
According to a media release from the Iowa City Police Department, for the last 24 hours, eight public safety agencies have been actively searching for Jones, a 35-year-old woman who walked away from an Iowa City mental health facility Sunday. The search has included 'over 50 personnel and various specialized equipment' but the effort has turned up no sign of her, according to the release.
As a result, the Iowa City Police Department is continuing to ask for the public's help in locating Jones and requests that residents of Johnson and other surrounding counties check their property and buildings.
Anyone with information on Jones' whereabouts is asked to call the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center at (319) 356-6800.

Officials from several jurisdictions are searching for a woman who walked away from an Iowa City mental health facility Sunday.
Vanessa Jones, 35, was reported missing from Chatham Oaks, 4515 Melrose Ave., at 5:34 p.m. Sunday. Chatham Oaks is a treatment facility for individuals with chronic mental illness.
Jones is described as a white female with brown hair and green eyes, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red sweater, pants, and pink Crocs sandals. She reportedly walked west from Chatham Oaks and entered a field to the south.
